Public Baths
Rome had many public baths. These baths were open to the rich and the poor, but there was a cost to get in. People at the batsh could swim, exercise, get massages, or bathe. There also were galleries, saunas, stores, salons, gardens, exersise rooms, and libraries. There were seperate bathing hours for men and women. Slaves were not allowed to go into the baths alone, but many people brought their slaves with them. Slaves also worked the baths. Some of the baths were big enough to hold 1,500 people!
